Colombian Coffee Hunter
In Colombia there are 560,000 coffee producing families, 96% are small producers of only 1.3 hectares (6,500 trees = 3,000 kg average per year with full production). These producers have coffee as their most important economic livelihood, but they lack the knowledge and purchasing power to venture into the production of specialty coffees, so their coffee is in the market at a commodity price even if they have cups of 84 points.
In our trips as coffee hunters we have found incredible stories of entire families dedicated to cultivate the land from 1 to 5 hc planted in coffee, and without knowing it, just for love and commitment to what they do, they have achieved special category coffees.
CCH wants to be part of this story and help fulfilling the dream of these families that put all their effort into these coffee beans and bring them closer to emerging and small roasters like you who expect to know the origin, to have all the traceability from the beans that they buy, and even to create long and lasting trust relationships with these small coffee growers.
How We Do it.
We focus on delivering all of our technical knowledge and sensory skills so that these families can continue to grow in quality. We do cuppings of the coffees and deliver their cup profiles, afterwards, we make recommendations to improve quality if needed.
We help their infrastructure to improve, grow and be adequate for each process. We teach them how to make natural, honey and with those who are more experienced we teach them how to carry out prolonged fermentation processes!
We also give them tips to have environmentally sustainable crop management, we encourage them to plant trees in the crop if it does not have them, to use the coffee cherry to fertilize, and to properly manage the wastewater from the coffee process!
We are looking for small coffee growers committed to the quality of coffee as well as customers who value transparency and want to be part of this fair industry that recognizes the effort made by each coffee grower.
We intend to bring you a special coffee with all its history directly from its origin. You will be complicit in seeing these small producers grow in quality and well-being for their families!
